To meet your needs, MRT have extended their Factory Warranty Guarantee option even further!

MRT Warranty

History

In the past if you wanted to buy a new (or used) car with mods, you were restricted to having to buy genuine parts from the car dealer with absolutely no alternative choice of supplier!

To save time we have a easy to use option here so we can assist you in getting the very best deal on a new or used car.
New Car Enquiry here

If you wanted improved suspension, or a MRT power kit, or window tint, some dealers would rarely help, and the rest would often force you to buy the car from them with their parts or make you take it elsewhere to get the improvements from some unknown supplier and no warranty.
This resulted in messy finance, potential warranty hassles and limited options!

Solution

Now you can have your cake and eat it as well!
Simply choose the (new or used) car you want to own, come (or call) MRT, choose a performance upgrade package, and we will do the rest!

  • MRT will liaise with your car dealer OR
  • Help find a better deal and then negotiate on your behalf! Due to our strong relationships with local car dealers, we guarantee to get you a better price for you new car!
Simply follow this link to our new or used car enquiry form
  • We will give you a factory Warranty Guarantee on your car, with the EXACTLY THE SAME BENEFITS you get from the dealer.
  • The warranty will cover the parts you choose (with help from MRT), even if they are genuine or non genuine!
  • Finally you get to control what you want on the car you want!

MRT tunes more than Subaru, Mazda or Mitsubishi!

Almost any model car with any model ECU.
Our Dyno cell, is the best in Sydney and the most advanced in Australia. So advanced that many other workshops use it!
With huge airflow (22,000 cfm!) it can empty the room in 5 seconds, meaning we get a very consistent tuning environment.
We also have a separated (dedicated) cooling fan for intercoolers mounted on top of engines on cars such as:

  • Subaru
  • Mazda 3
The benefit is we have consistent intercooler temperatures as well.

The staff at MRT Performance pride themselves on the success of vehicles we have tuned over many years. This includes hundreds of private owners road cars and many competition cars. With results such as:

  • Outright success in Targa Tasmania (Tony Sullens).
  • 2004 GT Production champions Protecnica Racing. (Justin Hemmes).
  • Targa New Zealand 5th outright, Steven Richards.
  • Osborne and Grand Prix Mazda race teams.
  • and many, many satisfied road car clients

Liberty GT Holden Ute MY00 STi Nissan Skyline Dyno Smoke Test Open wheel racer

We also do all the local development of ECU Maps for the EcuTeK range of factory ECU tuning products. Click here for information
All our tuning is done exclusively on a Dyna Pack Dyno, the most accurate and repeatable Dyno available.

Our dyno can be used for:

  • Tuning a cars ECU.
  • A simple power and Torque plot to record your cars performance.
  • Checking fuel mixture's.
  • Adjusting boost controllers.
  • Comparing and testing parts such as, exhausts, different engine oils, turbo's etc.
  • Checking the cars suspension, yes with our Dyno we have full access to the suspension whilst the car is being "driven".

Dyno Graphs

There are many ways to review a dyno graph, or "plot" or such. Many brands of Dyno's display data and varied ways, its important you know what to look for. Also also VITAL that you compare "apples with apples" as Dyno's vary so does their results. For more data click this link.
Also refer more information on how top read Dyno Data in the Subaru performance Handbook

Click here for a easy to access list of dyno graphs sorted by model type.

Comparing Dyno data

Dyna Pack, Mainline, Dyno Dynamics and more, all these dyno brands vary in the way they display data and information. One main exception is Dyna Pack is a hub dyno and all the others are roller dynos.
As a general rule a roller dyno reads lower than a hub dyno due to the parasitic loss's of the tyre, wheel interface.
The higher the power of the car the greater the difference.

Hub Benefits

  • Bolts directly to the cars hubs /axles so it has no variation or loss caused by wheels and tyres.
(tyres, tread, pressure, wheel diameter all effect dyno results on roller dyno's)
  • Measures "real" Torque as measured in Nm
(roller dynos only display "tractive effort")
  • Absolutely no wheel spin. Saves tyre wear!
(all roller dyno's have wheel spin, more power means even  more wheel spin)
  • Does not need to be "tied down"
(saves time most notably with high power cars that need major tie down straps on roller dyno's)
  • No inertia.
(no need to use cars brakes to slow down rollers after a power run)
  • Can do more tuning in less time
(as soon as the clutch is pressed the cars axles stop spinning)
  • Quieter
(no tyres means heaps quieter so your cars engine is easier to listen to)

Hub Disadvantages

  • On (low power) cars when compared to roller dynos, takes longer to get on an off Dyno
  • Some modified race cars can not "fit" the hub / pod design of a hub dyno.

Roller advantages

  • No need to remove wheels.
  • Low power cars are quicker to get on and off.
(when compared to a hub dyno)

Roller Disadvantages

  • Tyre wear (caused by wheelspin)
  • Not as accurate due
    to wheelspin
    tyre stickyness
    tyre varying diameter
  • Noise
  • Dirty, all that tyre rubber ends up a black soot
  • On high HP cars tyres can fail due to distortion under high load on the sidewalls
  • Can not (as easy) inspect brakes, suspension and chassis whilst in use

TIPS for improving your car and saving money

  • Did you know that if you choose the right brand and grade of oil, you could potentially travel 30 - 50 km MORE per tank of fuel!
  • Ask us how when you next call or book in for servicing or enhancements.
  • As us about our fuel economy Guarantee.
  • To reduce fuel costs, remove unwanted items from your car, like bags, tools and items.
  • This will reduce the weight of your car and add up over time in fuel savings
  • Choose the right fuel for your car, do't just assume, 98 Ron or E85 is the right fuel, check with MRT on HOW you can  actually measure your fyuel economy based on cents per litre travelled.
  • Check your tyre pressures often, low tyre pressures increase rolling resistance and costs more in fuel. Increase your tyre pressure by a small amount and you can SAVE fuel and money!
  • Remove roof racks off your car, they add to wind resistance and can cost more in fuel to use.
  • Check your brakes, dragging or poorly adjusted brakes can wear out faster and also cost you in fuel
  • Ask for a fuel System Service at MRT, this cleans the injectors, rails, tank, hoses, inlet and outlet of the engine to improve economy, driveability and performance of your car.
  • This is a guaranteed service, with a full money back promise!
  • We also offer oil sampling tests via www.roktex.com.au for you to check your engine wear before any fault occurs. Please ask us for more info.

Remember a vehicle inspection will often result in extra items that you can negotiate with the seller.
Often saving you thousands of $$

Some items as an exmple we check are:

  • Paint thickness, using a special electronic guage.
This can help indicate if previous panel repairs have taken place.
  • Non genuine nuts and bolts.
Often indicate poor repairs or previous modifications
  • Perished or soft water hoses.
  • Oil leaks.
    Minor and major.
  • Rust and poor chassis repairs.
  • Wire harness faults, under the dash and in the engine bay.
  • On road performance.
Do you really know how well your car is performing?
  • and much much more
When you get a MRT vehicle inspection and the car requires more than $500 worth of work and you are the owner, or new owner who paid for the inspection, we will CREDIT you HALF of the inspection cost.
Thats $100 towards your car repairs!

Body of the car

Panel fitment
Loose panels may indicate accident damage or that the car has been driven over rough roads.
Doors and boot lid
Catches should close firmly. Rubber seals can perish over time.
Rust/accident damage
Check inside the boot, the floor wells, doors and lower sills for red or other dark stains, dimpled or bubbled paint. Use a soft fridge magnet to check panels for plastic body filler.
Hail damage
Hail damage makes a car difficult to insure. Check the horizontal panels such as the bonnet, roof and boot lid.
Paint
Look for colour variation, overspraying, dents or ripples. These may indicate that the car has been in an accident.
Upholstery, trim, carpets
Check for wear and tear.

Under the bonnet

Compliance plate
A motor vehicle's compliance plate will define the date on which the vehicle was confirmed to comply with certain Australian Design Rules (ADR). With some imported vehicles the date of compliance will vary from the date of manufacture.
Engine appearance
A build-up of dirt may suggest poor maintenance or mechanical problems.
Built plate
A motor vehicle's built date is the date during manufacture when the engine is fixed to the chassis. This is usually determined as the date of manufacture. This date is usually stamped on a metal plate fixed to the motor vehicle.
Engine number and VIN (Vehicle Identification Number)
VIN is an International system of identifying motor vehicles and is required under ADR's. It is a combination of letters and numbers to identify its individual characteristics, for example model code, series, luxury level and body style.
The numbers shown on the Certificate of Registration must match the engine and VIN numbers on the car. Be wary of any signs of interference such as scratches, grind marks or drill holes. These may indicate illegal tampering with the numbers and the vehicle.
Engine oil
Dirty/thick oil and a build-up of sludge in the engine may suggest poor maintenance. Grey or milky coloured oil may suggest the presence of water, which would indicate serious problems.
Engine idle
The engine should idle smoothly. Listen for irregular running or any unusual noise such as any knocking or rattling noises.
Oil fumes
Remove the oil filler cap while the engine is idling. Fumes may signify worn piston rings or cylinders. Thick, black smoke coming from the exhaust can signify problems as well.
Radiator coolant
Should be clean and brightly coloured. Oil in the coolant may indicate a cracked cylinder-head or a leaky gasket.
Radiator cooler fins or core tubes
Check for corrosion or damage.
Battery mounting platform/bracket
Check for acid corrosion.

Underneath the car

Tyres (remember to check the spare)
Uneven wear may indicate worn or misaligned steering or suspension.
Oil leaks
Check the engine, transmission, axles, brakes, power steering and shock absorbers. A leak in any of these areas could indicate a problem and could possibly be a danger.
Exhaust system
Fumes or excessive noise may suggest there is a hole or rust in the pipes or the muffler.

Inside the car

Seat-belts
Check that the belts are not frayed or damaged, and that the belts, buckles and adjusters and child restraint anchorage points are in good condition.
Lights
Check that all lights, both inside and outside the car, are working. If the car is fitted with ABS and/or SRS (air bag), check that the dashboard warning light/s illuminate for a short time when the ignition is turned on.
Equipment and accessories
Check air-conditioning, ventilation fan, electric windows, sound systems, etc. Inoperative items can be expensive to repair or replace.
Jack and tool-kit
These items should be in place and in serviceable condition.

Odometer Alteration

The Motor Dealers Act (The Act) makes it illegal to interfere with an odometer. It states that the following actions are deemed to be interference:

  • altering the reading of the odometer
  • removing or replacing the odometer
  • rendering the odometer inoperative or inaccurate by any means whatsoever
  • fitting a device capable of rendering the odometer inoperative or inaccurate.

A dealer is also prohibited from advertising or specifying that the reading of an odometer is accurate if the dealer knows or has reasonable cause to know that this is not the case.

Driving Test

As part of a thorough inspection many people test-drive the car. The following are some things to check when test-driving.

Transmission
Gear changes (manual and automatic) should be smooth, without any rattles or knocking noises. On front-wheel drive vehicles, these noises could indicate worn constant-velocity joints.
Suspension and bodywork
Listen for rattles when you drive over bumps. It is also wise to have the car inspected by a reputable mechanic.
Steering
Excessive ‘free travel’ or wandering on straight roads can indicate worn suspension or misaligned steering. Brakes The car should stop smoothly and in a straight line. The pedal should not sink to the floor or feel spongy and the steering wheel should not vibrate.
Exhaust
Blue smoke indicates oil is burning.
Engine
Should run smoothly (accelerating, decelerating and cruising) and the water temperature gauge should stay in the safe range. Rattling or knocking could mean incorrect tuning or excessive wear.

Such as head surfacing, cylinder boring, crankshaft tunnel boring etc. We supply our own brand of parts, such as pistons, conrods, transmission parts and more or we choose from top brands around the world . Plus we develop kits and components that are matched, giving superior performance and reliability. Because we do so much ourselves, we know secrets on how to deliver you better results than others. We are unique, in the 15 years we have been building, fitting and tuning we have never had a single engine failure due to our workmanship.
Additionally we offer a unique warranty for your added peice of mind, (that is not offered by any other workshop). See separate page for full details.
Our in-house dyno facility is commonly used for testing new parts so we can guarantee to you the results!
